CHampioning all human beings who birth
who we are
Hi! We are United in Birth. A collective of BIPOC, Queer doulas dedicated to changing the landscape of perinatal healthcare for LGBTQIA+ folks in New York City. We are the gender nonconforming aunties, queer siblings, best friends, and Black sheep of the family that also happen to be doulas. We are your chosen family companioning you through the transition into parenthood.
We guide parents through reproductive life transitions such as pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and loss. At United in Birth our support is specifically designed to help pregnant people and their families be cared for throughout these transitions in a way that uniquely suits them. We understand that all families have their own configurations, values and needs and we do our best to tailor our support to you.
Our specialty is supporting LGBTQIA+, Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color and Solo Parent families through birth and the postpartum period.
Bonus points if you’re in Northern Manhattan or the Bronx.
Families that work with us report feeling less decision fatigue, more confidence in their ability to birth and have greater support in the postpartum period.

“I was on the fence about hiring doulas for the birth of our first child and my husband and I are SO glad that we did! We had great doctors and took multiple childbirth classes, but Jen along with her birth partner added a level of emotional support and guidance to our pregnancy experience that we didn't know was possible. From the visits during pregnancy and their willingness to always answer our questions to their support in the delivery room, they provided the perfect amount of guidance while still making sure I knew I was in charge of all decisions throughout pregnancy, birth, and the post-partum period. I never felt judged for decisions I made (even when they veered from my original plan!) and my husband and I both felt very supported right through the post-partum period (where they continue to answer our questions and provide excellent resources). If you're looking for doulas that are experts at what they do, are emotionally intelligent, and supportive, we couldn't recommend Jen and her birth partner more highly.”

“Jennifer was gentle, caring, and patient. We were grateful to have Jennifer by our side through the whole birthing process and delivery. This was our first child and we had no idea what to expect. Jennifer was helpful in getting us to think about things that we had not thought about ourselves and prompted my partner and I to have focused conversations about our expectations and goals and roles. This really helped us be confident going into the hospital. She was so supportive during the birth process, which allowed me and my partner to focus on the miracle that was our little baby coming into the world. Jennifer also made sure we were thinking ahead to have a plan for coming home from the hospital and caring for our new baby. As a Latina woman, I felt looked after and heard, especially about my concerns and fears. We would highly recommend Jennifer to anyone looking for a doula, especially first-time parents.”

“I’m forever grateful to Jen for being part of our birthing experience. Her support before, during birthing and in postpartum has been so helpful. Jen has a calming and compassionate energy, and you can tell she approaches this work with a full heart. She provided such thoughtful, crucial information, resources and advocacy for me, my partner and our baby. Most of all for me, there were magical moments that wouldn’t have happened without Jen as our doula. I’d recommend her without hesitation!”

“Jen really helped us to prepare for birth and think through our priorities together. I had a long labor and she was there to support me every step of the way. I didn’t know what to expect going into my first birth experience but I felt reassured knowing she was there to guide us.”
